Third  journal about  teaching practice

 

Third week, 10-14 \ May \2015.

 

 

 

It was the last week, I felt sad, because I will leave the school and I like my school mentor and the students (grade 2A and 2B).  I got many benefits such as, how can I use the strategies that I learnt from college. The teacher applied some the strategies and I understood them deeper.

 

I did three lessons in the last week. One was on Sunday, it was math lesson about compare two numbers from zero - 500 and the college mentor observed me. I did the different activities but they have the same idea and learn the same thing. They were as games. First and second activities were guess cards game but by different ways. They pairs game, each player chosen one number card that has three digits and one phrase card without seeing them, then they had to open them and see who chose the correct phrase for the number that they had chosen. They third activity has the same ideas but the player chosen three number cards because each card has one digits. The last activity for lower lever, they have to choose one card that has two digits and they had to use the cubes to make the number than compare the number by seeing the phrase cards. The activities were good for them because they like playing and the same time understand the lesson.

 

The second lesson was on Tuesday, it was literacy lesson about recognize and use ee double vowels. I made four activities that teach the same outcome. There were “Hidden words game it was groups work” “letter slider game it was pair work” “letter slider game it was pair work and ee vowel wheel game it was pair group.

 

 The last lesson that was on Thursday, it was Literacy and the strand was about connect illustrations, diagrams and pictures to text to gain comprehension I created 4 activities, there were “Make own story individual work “Match pictures to sentences individual work “Match sentences to pictures individual work and the last activity was match word to pictures, individual work. I felt the all activities that I did were very good for level the students and they got the benefits and met the outcome.

 

I used look-say strategy in most my lesson and top-down methods. It was the successful way to teach them because they have background and I added the new things to them for the lesson. However, I used games and video for teaching them in the opening and closing, it helped student understand the lesson deeply and the same time get the interesting “I have been involved in more than 60 studies conducted by classroom teachers on the effects of games on student achievement” (Marzano, 2010 ).

 

I learnt that I can use different strategies depend to level of the students because they have different levels and they need different strategies to teach them and I think the one to one strategy is important for failure students to help then, that what I learnt in the college as well.

 

In general, I noticed that the children learn best when they doing something that related to the lesson not just read and write” "the idea that children learn best through doing and actively exploring" (McLeod, Jean Piaget, 2015).

 

I noticed that I improve more than before and I could manage the students and my English us better than before however, I need improve more than it in my speaking and I will work in it. I felt very happy in this TP, I wanted to be there for a long time and my teacher, and students wanted that as well.
