First journal about  teaching practice

 

 

First week, on 26-30 \ April \2015.

 

 

I felt good in the beginning of the teaching practice. It was different from before because I use the environment of the school so, no more nervous. In the first week, I could deal with the children and helped them and they deal with me, as they know me before. I was happy in the first week. I wanted to complete the teaching practice with my school mentor and her students.  

 

 

The strategy I liked that my school mentor had used mixed between visual, auditory and kinesthetic to teach her students, it will help the students to develop and learn more. In addition, the students have different style to learn so, when the teacher mixed learning style model all students can learn from their styles” The more a student can learn through a combination of all the modalities—visual, auditory, and kinesthetic - , the more embedded the learning will be” (jcu.edu.au, 2014). The teacher showed them video about science (pull and push) by the video they listened and watched the characters that make drama about pull and push. After that, the teacher asked them to find any things in the class they can push and pull them. All of the students showed many different things that they could pull and push them. I surprised, because they found things that I could not find them. The mixed learning style model are very successful for learning.

 

 

My teacher use scaffolding theory for special needs, first see what they know already then she will teach them next things. She does not jump to teach them something that they do not have any background about it “Scaffolding involves helpful, structured interaction between an adult and a child with the aim of helping the child achieve a specific goal” (McLeod, 2012).

 

 

I did first lesson in first week it was on Wednesday. I taught them about literacy the strand was vocabulary (name of animals with their footprints) I created four activities, 1- 2 make short story with different sentences, 3- cards game 4- use play-dough to make footprints of the animals. My school mentor likes the activities special the booklist of the short story. (More information see the first lesson plan).

 

 

I like my teacher way when she give the students reading lesson, she use read aloud strategy. Then she asked the students to go their groups and distribute each group different books depend to their level I meant that each group has different book than other with activities. They have to read the book and do the activity. Furthermore, my teacher will sit with lower group and teach them, she focus on their weakness to them and try to develop them. I saw it was successful and they have develop gradually.

 

 

I had learnt some strategies, how manage the students from my school mentor and how deal with students’ problem.  My school mentor provide so nice environment for students that make the students like the class and it is safety for them. 

 

 

I noticed that, the teacher always read the rhythm words and ask the students to repeat after her.

It was a nice week, I got some tired but I learnt a lot of thing as I mention above.
