Reflection 2

 

Description:

 

In the second week in the TP Mezyad cycle 1 school. It a nice week. I did two lessons, the first one science and it was about the natural events that change the earth. I did that on Sunday. In the opening, I asked students to sit on the carpet.  I brought three boxes and put sands in all of them.  I poured water in the first one to show them how the water change the earth and makes rivers. I used a straw and blew on the sand to show them how the wind changes the earth and erosion the mountain and the third one I put ice on the sand to show them how the snow changes the earth when the snow melts. I used authentic stuff was to install the information to them and they will remember it for a long time “The main advantage of using real objects into the classroom is to make the learning experience more memorable for the learner” (Budden, 2011, para. 1).

 

Feelings:

 

The first lesson I could manage them so I was happy for that because I thought I could not. I did something was not the good such as when I asked the students to write the words in their worksheet and they do not know to write the words so I had have to write the words on the board. My teacher gave me her feedback, I was happy for the feedback because I can improve in the next lesson. However, I felt comfort when I did the lessons and I wanted to do more lesson to i.mprove.

 

Evaluation:

 

On Wednesday, I did an English lesson and my college mentor came to observe me. I made PowerPoint with pictures and record voices to use it in the opening. It was nice for kids to see and listen to the words and I asked them to repeat after the sound. I have chosen some students to repeat it individual “Choral repetition can be invigorating and it gives all the students a chance to speak together rather than being possibly shown up individually” (Harmar, 2007). I praised them many times and gave them stickers so I managed them very well that made me very happy because in the first week, I thought I couldn’t manage boys in grade 5. I did my lesson the right time with a short time in the opening and closing and a bit long time in the activity stage.

 

Analysis:

 

The wrong things I did that when I gave the low level the easy activity and didn’t give them my time. I focused on the other groups, I mean by that I was with other groups to read the sentences for them and left the low group to cut the pictures and post it in their paper without I observe them much I looked at them just few times. In addition. I changed my plans, because I need to change it, but I did it right and I learnt that if the change will achieve the outcomes it will be fine. Sometime we need to change something because the circumstances will happen we didn't know about it.

 

 

Conclusion:

 

 I really was happy when I did the lessons especially when I could manage the students. They usually are very noise but I use some strategy, which help me to manage them such as, when I saw some boys didn’t listen I praised who was listen to make other imitate him, I used stickers and gift for who listen to teacher.  It entices me to do other lessons. I feel better than first week and I wanted to be there more because I get many benefits there and learn many nice things.

 

Action plan:

 

I will focus at my mentors feedback and I wrote what the mistake I did when I taught my students because when I will do the lesson next time I will consider the mistake and I will try avoid the mistakes. I will focus to time more because in the activity stage the students need more time for doing the activities.
